Auction Notice; Samuel T. Freeman & Co.; Philadelphia, 1969; 0033.69.72

While the decline of the textile industry in New England began in the 1920s and accelerated in the 1930s, some mills continued to operate well into the 1950s and 1960s. This auction sheet says it all about the sad end of one company, as the machinery and equipment of the Suncook Yarn Mill in Suncook, New Hampshire, went up for auction 43 years ago on Feb. 26, 1969. Looms, equipment, trucks, yarn stock — everything was for sale.
