Needle Felt a Miniature Animal

UPCOMING NEEDLE FELTING WORKSHOPS: Saturday, July 18 and Saturday, August 8, 9:30-4:30 PM – $50
(includes guided tour of main exhibit and extended time)

Learn basic needle felting techniques, then make an animal of you choice sized to sit on the palm of your hand. Teens and older (or those able to work with a sharp needle). Weaving Lessons

Learn the entire weaving process, from warping a loom to weaving your own sampler. Class meets for four 3-hour sessions. $125 [ATHM members receive a 10% discount], materials $10, loom rental if needed $20 [free for members]. Inkle Loom Lessons

Learn to use the compact, simple inkle loom to make a project. Inkle looms produce narrow strips or bands of warp-faced cloth or ribbon, handy for belts, headbands, bookmarks, etc. One 2 hr. session, $45. Spinning Lessons

Learn to spin yarn on both a traditional Ashford style wheel, and on a great wheel. Class meets for two 2 ½ -hour sessions. $71 [ATHM members receive a 10% discount], materials $5, wheel rental if needed $10 [free for members]. Spinning on a Great Wheel

This workshop focuses on learning and perfecting the skill of spinning on a great wheel. It is designed for those who already know the basics of spinning and fiber preparation. (includes materials)

If Lucy Larcom Quilted

Choose a template of a traditional quilt pattern available to mill girls while they worked in Lowell circa 1825-1850, and hand-piece a quilted project. Basic quilting instruction provided for beginners. Sew reproduction fabrics by hand. Patterns provided. Class meets for five 2-hour Saturday sessions. $80, plus materials. If Lucy Larcom Quilted - For Kids

Children will learn the fundamentals of quilting as they create a small quilted project featuring a block pattern from Lucy Larcom and the Lowell mill girls' era (approx. 1825-1850). Class meets for four 2-hour Saturday sessions. $75 (ATHM members receive a 10% discount), $40 materials cost.   • Special Quilting Workshop: To especially accommodate home schoolers’ schedules, If Lucy Larcom Quilted – for Kids may also be scheduled for Mondays during the day.


Beginner Quilt Sampler Class

Make a small quilt sampler with 6 different quilt block patterns while you learn or practice basic hand-sewing techniques. Two 4-hr. General Scheduling Information
All of the above classes are scheduled by the teacher on an on-demand basis. Teachers will directly contact students initially, and  to set times and dates when a minimum of interested students contact us.
