Guided Group Tours

A general, guided group tour of the Museum’s core exhibition, Textile Revolution, provides an opportunity to explore the story of the art, history, and science of textiles under the guidance of a knowledgeable staff or docent.

Customized guided group tours with any of the following tour options are also available:

Textiles in America
Learn how textiles have evolved in America – from the Native American’s use of woven cloth, through the Colonial era, to 21st century high tech fabrics.

Fashion, Art and Design in America
This tour utilizes pieces from the Museum’s extensive costume collection to examine changes in clothing and fashion design over the centuries. Emphasizing fabric types, color choices, and finishing techniques, it includes discussions on societal influences, economic realities, personal taste, and popular trends from the 17th through the 21st century.

Industrialization and Inventing in America
A great choice for any group particularly interested in various aspects of American History, with special attention given to the industrialization of America, what led up to it, and how contemporary innovations continue to shape the textile industry.

Admission: $10 per adult, $8 per senior, free for ATHM Members.

And, enjoy sharing observations as each child takes a walk on an imaginary “time line” following the history of textiles from Native Americans into the 21st Century.
