The New England Quilt Museum, and all of the Quilters’ Quest sponsors, invite all the quilters who journeyed through the 2008 Quilters’ Quest to participate in an additional Quilt Challenge. This new challenge is also open to any quilter who completes the challenge rules. The theme of the contest is to make a quilt that features any two or more of the thirty-two clues (quilt block patterns listed below) and depicts a journey or phase in one’s life. The juried quilts will be featured in an exhibit at the 2009 Lowell Quilt Festival and thereafter be included in a traveling exhibit. More details to follow!!
CHALLENGE RULES
1. Anyone is eligible to enter except owners and employees of the eight sponsoring organizations and businesses*. 2. Quilts must be exactly 48" x 60" and have three layers. They must NOT be framed with wood, metal, etc. No "tied" entries will be considered. 3. All entries must include at least two of the thirty-two block patterns featured as clues in the quest. In addition, the quilt may include appliqué, embroidery and/or embellishments. 4. Entries will be judged on overall appearance, workmanship, originality of design, adherence to the theme, and use of color. Preliminary acceptance will be granted on the basis to 2 high quality images, a close-up and overall. Final acceptance will be granted after examination of the work. 5. Entry Fee: $10.00. (One entry per quiltmaker only) Make check payable to New England Quilt Museum. Fees will cover the cost of the Traveling Exhibit. 6.Entry must be postmarked on or before June 15, 2009. |
