These are fun classes where we will cover creative weaving techniques, and you can weave table runners, placemats or a bag, scarf, or belt. You can bring a loom if you have one, or one will be provided for use in class. A great time to gain experience on table looms, rigid heddle looms, structo looms, inkle looms, floor looms, and learn to use a warping board, stick shuttles, boat shuttles, and bobbin winders. We will cover balanced plain weaves, twills, clasped weft, etc., and proceed at your own pace. You can order your own colors from Webs at www.yarn.com under “5/2 Valley Cottons.” They usually deliver in 2-3 days. Otherwise, a materials fee will be charged depending on what you use (usually around $10). The text we recommend is Deborah Chandler’s book, “Learning to Weave.” These classes can be used to brush up on your weaving skills if you have done weaving in the past and want to progress to lace weaves, clothing, double weave, or other interesting techniques. For those 12 and older. This is a great parent/teen activity. $10 per hour or $30 per class. $5 per class loom rental if needed. Call 978-441-0400 ext. 234 or email reservations@athm.org for information/registrations.
