The Textile Learning Center is an interactive learning center for people of all ages (young children should be accompanied by an adult.) Try hands-on activities and crafts, and play with our textile-related toys. The TLC is open during Museum hours. No additional charge beyond Museum admission.
Curl up in the reading corner, learn to spin and weave, or check-out our activity centers. The TLC is designed to add to the hands-on experience for families with children.
The activities presented in the TLC support the kite exhibit, “ALOFT!”, which is presented in our changing galleries. Here in the TLC, you can experiment with wind currents, create minature kites to fly in our wind tunnel, and test your math skills in using rations to construct a variety of Japanese fighting kites. You can create a powem about kites or the wind that will will siplay in our TLC tree. The new computer station sends you to the NASA website to use the interactive kite-flying simulator.
Looms are available for weaving, and the toddleer area provides young children a safe place to play. Our library features a variety of games and books for children and adults.
Choose from a variety of themed scavenger hunt sheets available in the TLC, and see if you can find the pictured objects as you wend your way through the Museum. Take them home as a remembrance of what you saw at the ATHM.
