Threads of Learning

Threads of Learning is a series of on-site interactive programs that utilize the Museum's extensive textile collections to provide students with an educational experience designed to complement and enhance classroom learning. The programs include an introduction to museums and museology, a guided tour of the Textiles in America exhibition, and creative hands-on activities.

Traveling Textiles

Traveling Textiles is a series of outreach programs that bring the Museum to the classroom through activities that explain the process of cloth-making, highlight ethnic textile traditions, emphasize the important role of technology and familiarize students with the diverse labor force that contributed to the development of the vital textile industry.

Through the Threads of Learning and Traveling Textiles programs students gain an understanding of the direct relationship between American history and the story of the evolution of the cloth-making industry form the colonial period through the present.
