American Textile History Museum Presents First President’s Distinguished Service Award to Edward B. Stevens at Annual President's Society Dinner Honoring Major Donors


LOWELL (April 5, 2007) –The American Textile History Museum honored over 40 leadership level contributors to the Museum during 2006 at its annual President's Society Dinner held recently at the historic John Nesmith House. The event included a surprise announcement during dinner, when host ATHM President and CEO James S. Coleman presented ATHM Board Chairman Emeritus Edward B. Stevens with the first annual President’s Distinguished Service Award, established to be given to a Trustee or Advisor who has shown exemplary leadership and generosity to the Museum.

Cambridge fiber artist Laurie Carlson was the evening’s guest speaker. Carlson, a pioneer and consultant in the category of "smart textiles," displayed and discussed the use of cutting-edge techniques and material in her innovative artwork, including optical fibers.

The evening was sponsored by Butler Bank. Musical entertainment was by Dan Webster of Lowell, cocktails by Backstage Concessions, and dinner by Two Chefs.
