Dear Golfer,
Two great Lowell institutions are teaming up once again for a popular event that really puts the “fun” in fundraiser. The American Textile History Museum and Lowell Sun Charities will host the Textile Open Putting Skills Golf Tournament on Thursday, October 1, at 5:30 p.m. at 491 Dutton Street, Lowell 01854. Proceeds from the event will be shared by ATHM and Lowell Sun Charities.
This year’s competition features two options –Textile National, The New Course is a demanding 18-hole track with challenges like the par 5 opening hole, “Downtown, Lowell” the par 5 third hole, “Is Kendall In?” and the closing hole, “OZ” which is sure to be a favorite. The 9-hole Textile Apprentice course is ideal for children, or those who want to make sure they have plenty of time to enjoy refreshments and socialize. Either way, you have the opportunity to test your putting skills as you tour ATHM’s exciting new exhibition, Textile Revolution: An Exploration Through Space and Time, and observe the behind-the-scenes preparations for the next day’s edition of The Sun.
You don’t need to be a golfer to enjoy this event, but you are encouraged to bring your favorite putter and wear your most “creative” golf attire. Refreshments including beer, wine, hot dogs, snacks and soda are included in your registration fee. Prizes for the lowest three scores for each flight will be awarded, and the winner of the 18-hole flight will have his or her name engraved on the coveted Textile Open trophy.
Please return the enclosed registration form by Monday, September 21. Get your registration in early so that we can reserve your tee time! For any questions, call Maura Ryan (ext. 247) at ATHM, 978-441-0400, or Ken Wallace at The Sun at 978-970-4801.
